Parent Power

Parent Power is a collaboration between African Families in the UK (AFIUK) and Oxford Hub, which through the use of paid and trained parent support workers, we bring parents together to support each other, enabling families to lead their best lives and achieve their goals.

We offer one to one support for parents who are having a difficult time, as well as group support and events for parents so they can support each other to thrive.

The programme is designed and delivered by parents.

The majority of Parent Power takes place in Blackbird Leys, Littlemore and Rose Hill.

It’s been great to see what’s happening in our future.

“I have a lot more knowledge now on how I can help the parents and children within my school where my children go. It’s changed me in understanding what help parents need and what help the children will need to make them feel more comfortable, more settled and just becoming a bit more part of the community. Being able to help and support as many people as I can has been very eye opening and interesting to see what the role of a parent advocate is and what the future holds for us.”
